To Whom it May Concern

Nicole Paiement has proven herself a superb conductor, marshalling forces of players and singers with a natural and vigourous authority. Her sense for the telling detail is accute and althought she is physically short and slight, she wields big music. She searches out music very seldom performed and presents it with style. I have the pleasure of her artistry on a recording that she made for the Musical Heritage Society of a generous anthology of my musics on the occasion of my seventy-fifth birthday ... all of it is scrumptious. I continue to regret that she did not make public a recording of her performance of Orff's Triumph of Aphrodite which drew a large audience from the local and from the broader community. I have a vivid memory of the intensity and the perfection of her work for that masterpiece. Nicole, too, will triumph, I feel sure, for her artistry will be clear wherever and in whatever she does.
