Synesthesia: Bridging the Senses

With promotional support from San Francisco Opera Five imaginative works
that reach out to all the senses, including music by Philip Glass, Kaija
Saariaho, Robert Helps, and works by Benjamin Britten and Jay Lyon, both
inspired by the evocative poetry of Arthur Rimbaud.
Bridging Time
November 17, 8:00 p.m. (pre-concert talk 7:15 p.m.) A unique collaboration
between the New Music Ensemble and the Baroque Ensemble (Corey Jamason,
director) featuring Astor Piazzolla’s Cuatro estaciones porteñas
(The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires) with Cynthia Mei, violin soloist, and
baroque-inspired works by Dan Becker and David Jones.
Bridging Cultures
March 8, 8:00 p.m. (pre-concert talk 7:15 p.m.)
Sponsored by the Italian Cultural Institute Some of the most talented singers
in the Bay Area come together for a dramatic program full of songs and
sounds that bridge cultures and genres, including Kui Dong’s Blue
Melody and Atlantis by Henry Cowell, plus new works by Alden Jenks and
Luciano Chessa.
