PAIEMENT will conduct the world premiere of a commissioned work for ensemble by Alexandra Vrebalov, in October 2008.

PAIEMENT conducts the world premiere of Lucianno Chessa’s new version of his staged work Aria e Coro della Vergine, and Alden Jenk’s Soup, in March 2008.

PAIEMENT will record in January the world premiere of two new orchestral works by composer David Cope and Daniel Brown with Ensemble Parallèle.

In June 2007, PAIEMENT conducted Handel’s dramatic oratorio: Jephtha. at the Festival de musique baroque in Sherbrooke, Québec, with a reprise performance in Montréal.

PAIEMENT was awarded with colleague Brian Staufenbiel, director of the Opera Program at the University of California, first price by the National Opera Association Opera competition for their production of Britten’s Midsummer Night’s Dream.

This year, Paiement conducted at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco, the World premiere of Lou Harrison’s final version of his opera: Young Caesar. a lavish transethnic work exploring the love affair between Julius Caesar and Nicomedes, King of Bithynea. Inspired by Chinese opera, Harrison created a new operatic style where the East meets West. Young Caesar grapples with many contemporary issues that were at the heart of Harrison’s exploration – the Pacific Rim and its exotic colors, new theater and homosexuality.

PAIEMENT was Artistic Director of an Opera Symposium at the University of California, Santa Cruz, CA entitled New Directions in Contemporary Opera. (3-7th April, 2007).

PAIEMENT conducted the world premiere of four commissioned works this year: François Rose’s Le temps scintillé. (14 October, 2006, SFCM Recital Hall, 50 Oak Street, San Francisco) Bruce Mather’s Music for San Francisco & Jacques Desjardins’s Volupté (18 November, 2006; Old First Church, 1751 Sacramento Street, San Francisco) ; and Ryan Brown’s Thick Skin (10 March, 2007, SFCM Concert Hall, 50 Oak Street, San Francisco).
PAIEMENT is working with composer Hi Kyung Kim for the World-premiere commission of a Requiem for orchestra, solists and chorus for for Winter 2009. She is also working with Stella Sung on a commissioned guitar concerto to be performed with guitarist Eladio Sharron in 2007.

Paiement is Artistic Director for a new recording of works by student of Messiaen entitled Autour de Messiaen. This recording includes world premiere recording of works by Michele Reverdy and Gilles Tremblay, along with works by Tristan Murail and Gigan Chen.
